Not only that but being outside in the sunlight will be good for your health. You’ll be getting some fresh air and that very important vitamin D. Vitamin D is good for strengthening bones and it may reduce the risk of hip fractures, stroke, and heart attack.

#2 Take a Walk Around the Neighborhood

It’s harder for seniors to stay active during the winter months when it’s cold, rainy, or snowy and slippery outside. That’s why many people tend to put on some weight during the winter. Well, that and the holidays.

But, now is your time to rise and shine! Take walks to the nearby park or around your neighborhood. Walking is a great form of exercise that will help you lose weight or stay in shape. And it’s not hard or boring either. You may also encounter some of your friends or acquaintances along the way and catch up which will benefit your mental health, too

#3 Eat Seasonal Veggies and Fruits

Spring is the favorite season of many people and for many reasons. One of them is the delicious seasonal veggies and fruits it brings! If you have been eating a lot of food and sweets during the winter and holiday season, it’s time to lighten and brighten up your diet!

Peppers, sweet potatoes, mushrooms, asparagus, cucumbers, strawberries, and other berries are just some of the fruits and vegetables that come in spring. Support your local sellers and buy fresh produce packed with vitamins and fiber!

#4 Beat Seasonal Allergies

One of the less popular aspects of spring is that it brings seasonal allergies. No one likes the symptoms seasonal allergies bring and it can make you less excited about spring. However, there are ways around them!

First things first, you’ve got to figure out what triggers it. If it’s pollen, for example, you can keep your doors and windows closed to keep it out. When you go out, you can wear wraparound sunglasses. Medicine also helps, but you should first consult your doctor.

#5 Don’t Forget to Stay Hydrated

As the weather gets better and the air gets hotter, it gets increasingly more important to stay hydrated. Drink more water than you did in the winter days. This is especially important when you are about and about or doing exercises. You’ll also get more cognitive benefits from your exercise if you drink water with it!

Seniors have diminished thirst perception, so you gotta push yourself to drink water or tea even if you don’t really feel thirsty. Research from Harvard Medical School recommends 4 to 6 glasses of water per day for seniors, so make sure you meet the quota!
